Burnby Hall Gardens

“Burnby Hall Gardens & Museum are located close to the centre of Pocklington. They are home to the United Kingdom’s national collection of hardy water lilies, and contain the largest such collection to be found in a natural setting in Europe. The 8 acres (3.2 ha) of gardens with two lakes planted with naturalized water lilies were bequeathed to Pocklington by Major Percy Marlborough Stewart.”

The Friends of Pocklington Green Spaces work at Burnby Hall Gardens on the 1st Friday of the month (but contact us to double-check first!). The kinds of work we do includes:

  • Maintaining the woodland paths
  • Looking after the rockery
  • Weeding the stumpery
  • Planting bulbs
  • Plus many other varied tasks we’re asked to do
